Why choose crowns and bridges?
If you’d like to restore chipped, cracked, or damaged teeth, crowns and bridges could be a great option for you.
Made from custom-colour-matched ceramic, crowns are designed to cover the surface of your tooth, transforming its look, shape, and colour, so no one will know it’s damaged. Bridges are an excellent choice if you’re missing a few teeth in a row as they can fill the gap in a natural, functional way.
Not only do they look good, but crowns and bridges will make your mouth healthier by protecting your teeth, filling in gaps that could cause problems, and banishing bacteria build-up.

How do crowns and bridges work?
A crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth to restore its strength, shape, and appearance. It completely covers the bit of your tooth that’s visible above the gum line, protecting it from further damage while blending seamlessly with your natural teeth
Crowns are ideal if you’ve had a root canal treatment, have teeth that are cracked, or chipped, or have large fillings as they can hide imperfections and protect your mouth.
A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, filling gaps in your smile by anchoring artificial teeth to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the space. The supporting teeth are fitted with crowns to hold the bridge securely in place, creating a stable and long-lasting restoration. Bridges not only restore your ability to chew and speak but also prevent the shifting of nearby teeth, helping to maintain your natural bite and facial structure.

Frequently asked questions
at Sheffield Smiles
Crowns and bridges
How do I care for my crowns and bridges?
Brush and floss daily as you would with your natural teeth. Regular dental check-ups will help keep them healthy and make sure they last for many years.
Can I eat with crowns and bridges?
Yes! Crowns and bridges are designed to function like your natural teeth. Just avoid overly hard foods that could cause damage to your restorations.
Will my crown or bridge match the rest of my teeth?
Your crown and the artificial teeth on the bridge will be made to match the shape and colour of your natural teeth. As they’re custom-made for your mouth, they’ll be an excellent match and will be indistinguishable from your other teeth.
Is it painful to get crowns or bridges?
We use local anaesthetic to numb the area and make sure you feel as little as possible, so you shouldn’t have any discomfort during the fitting.
