How do crowns and bridges work?
A crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth to restore its strength, shape, and appearance. It completely covers the bit of your tooth that’s visible above the gum line, protecting it from further damage while blending seamlessly with your natural teeth
Crowns are ideal if you’ve had a root canal treatment, have teeth that are cracked, or chipped, or have large fillings as they can hide imperfections and protect your mouth.
A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, filling gaps in your smile by anchoring artificial teeth to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the space. The supporting teeth are fitted with crowns to hold the bridge securely in place, creating a stable and long-lasting restoration. Bridges not only restore your ability to chew and speak but also prevent the shifting of nearby teeth, helping to maintain your natural bite and facial structure.

In-depth consultation
Meet with your for a full dental examination dentist including scans, X-rays, and photos of your mouth. Your dentist will to speak about your smile goals and go through treatment options, costs, and more.
Treatment plan
Your dentist will build a personalised treatment plan for you and send it to you as a video. You’ll then visit us again to talk through the process and start the preparation for your treatment.
Preparing your teeth
Your dentist will take digital impressions of your mouth, a scan of your bite, and a record of your tooth colour to create your custom crown or bridge. Using our 3D printer, we can custom-make your crowns or bridges on the same day, ensuring an exact fit. Once they’re ready, your dentist will fit them, making any necessary adjustments for maximum comfort.
Your dentist will then prepare and shape your teeth so they’re ready for your restoration and may fit a temporary crown and/or bridge.
If you’re a nervous patient, don’t worry — your dentist is super experienced in soothing anxieties and will go at your pace, explaining everything along the way. We can also arrange sedation for you to make any treatment you have with us less stressful.
Restoring your smile
You’ll visit us again so your dentist can fit your crown and/or bridge. It’s a non-invasive treatment involving bonding the crown to your tooth and/or the bridge to the teeth it’s next to.
Once you and your dentist are happy with your teeth, you’ll be given information about looking after your restoration and will be able to enjoy your new smile.

Will my crown or bridge match the rest of my teeth?
Your crown and the artificial teeth on the bridge will be made to match the shape and colour of your natural teeth. As they’re custom-made for your mouth, they’ll be an excellent match and will be indistinguishable from your other teeth.
Is it painful to get crowns or bridges?
We use local anaesthetic to numb the area and make sure you feel as little as possible, so you shouldn’t have any discomfort during the fitting.
